From 1986, after graduation in the Performance Arts in Amsterdam, Saskia Boddeke worked as stage-manager and assistant director at the Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam, with Peter Stein, David Pountney, Robert Carsen, Harry Kupfer, Dario Fo, Pierre Audi and Klaus-Michael Grüber in Munich, Pesaro, Amsterdam and Paris.
She founded her own theatre company the Theatergroep vals Akkoord in Amsterdam. Saskia has co-direction credits on the opera Rosa,music by Louis Andriessen, libretto by Peter Greenaway at The Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam, and direction credits on the prop-opera 100 Objects to Represent the World, music by Jean-Baptiste Barrière, libretto by Peter Greenaway at the Zeitfluss Salzburg Festival, touring the production with Change Performing Arts around Europe and South America.
Saskia directed the opera Christopher Columbus by Darius Milhaud at the Deutsche Staatoper Berlin, and the opera Writing to Vermeer, music by Louis Andriessen, libretto Peter Greenaway, touring the production with the Netherlands Opera to the Adelaide Festival, Australia and the
Lincoln Centre Festival in New York.
She directed La Gazetta by Rossini at the Summerborn Festival, Voorst, the play GOLD with music by Borut Krzisnik,from 92 stories by Peter Greenaway at the Schauspielhaus, Frankfurt, Wash and Travel/Luper at Lille at the Lille Cultural Capital Festival, and “The Falls” an installation-music theatre, music David Lang, from the collection of short biographies by Peter Greenaway at Zwolle.
Saskia produced and directed M is for Medecine Two in Amsterdam in 2005, and directed the production The Children of Uranium with text by Peter Greenaway for Genoa and then Naples in 2005 and 2006. Directed the play, Rembrandt¹s Mirror for the Rotterdam Schouwburg in 2007, directed a film-projection performance of Schoenberg¹s Survivor from Warsaw with Zubin Mehta at the Florence Opera House, and was co-director on a performance of the Netherlands Opera Magic Flute at the Salzburg Music Festival in 2006 and 2008. Together with Peter Greenaway she conceived the multi media performance The Blue Planet for the expo in Zaragoza 2008 with the music by Goran Bregovic. |
